BASE: NOBEL U GETS FIRST OFFICIAL WIN IN PROGRAM HISTORY 8-2 OVER CPU
Santa Fe Springs - Nobel University (1-5) recorded their first official victory in program history as they knocked off the Cal Prestige University Lions Tuesday afternoon by a score of 8-2. The Knights were led by two freshmen catcher Leonardo Luna who went 3 for 4 and drove in six runs for the Knights and his battery mate pitcher Steven Marker, who pitched 7 solid innings giving up six hits, but only one run while striking out 8 Lions.
“It feels really good to get a nice bounce back victory today after we started off the year struggling a little bit. This was a good team for us today. Everyone did their part,” Luna said. “I was trying to help us get some runs on the board and pass the baton to the next guy. I was seeing the ball and was able to make solid contact. Steven was really shoving the ball today. He was hitting his spots very well and moving his breaking ball around to get the big outs when he needed to.”
Nobel got on the board first plating two runs in the 2nd inning on a ground out by Luna that scored Tyler Gingras from third. Freshman outfielder Rafael Gomez drove in the second run on a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored Aiden Gfoerer from third to make it 2-0 Knights. CPU got one run back in the bottom of the second inning, but Marker bore down to get the final out on a fly ball Gomez.
The Knights got the run back in the top of the 4th inning on a one single by Luna that scored Gingras from second base after a double to make the score 3-1. The Knights extended their lead to 6-1 with three runs in the top of the 5th inning. Junior Nick Toney scored on a CPU error to make it a three-run lead. Then Luna came through again with a line drive double down into the left field corner that scored Gingras and Gfoerer to make it 6-1 in favor of Nobel.
That’s all that Marker would need as he kept mowing down the CPU hitters striking five of the next nine CPU hitters while only allowing one hit in his last three innings of work, before giving way to Vinny Bobadilla who pitched the final two innings allowing no hits and one run while striking out two Lions to close out the Knights first varsity official victory in Nobel baseball program history.
“I felt like I was able to move the ball around well today and was hitting the corners of the plate very well. My command was very good today and defense played well behind me today. Big key was I was able to get the big outs when I needed them,” Marker said. “This was a good win for us and it feels great to be a part of making history. (First official victory in Nobel history). Leo had a great day hitting getting some clutch hits. He also called a good game behind the plate which really helped me.”
Nobel University head coach D.J. Gunderson was very pleased with his team’s performance on Tuesday and hopes it will give them some momentum going into conference play.
“I’m really excited this win. This was the best and most complete we have played in two years. It was a very good win for our team. Our pitching was great today both Steven and Vinny threw the ball very well. We also got some big hits from Leonardo (Luna) that got our offense going,” Nobel head coach D.J. Gunderson said. “I was very happy for Steven to pitch such a great game. He got stronger every inning and never made the same mistake twice. All his hard work is paying off. Our situational hitting with guys on base has not been very good, but today we got a lot of clutch hits, and our defense was great making no errors. This is definitely a game to build on going into the start of our conference games this weekend.”
Nobel will play Hope International’s Developmental team tomorrow afternoon at 1 PM in Fullerton, before playing their first three Southwestern States Conference (SWS) games this weekend in Chandler, Arizona against Justice University. The Knights will play one game Friday afternoon and then a doubleheader on Saturday against Justice.

MBB: SENIOR JOVAN YOUNG WINS FIRST EVER NCCAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nobel University’s senior point guard Jovan Young just made program history this week as
He has been named NCCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Young is the first player in Nobel University history to garner NCCAA Player of the Week Honors.
Jovan has had a stellar last couple of games after returning from a leg injury on Thursday, February 12th when the Knights travelled to Lancaster to play West Coast Baptist College. Young had 20 points three rebounds, three assists, and five steals spearheading a 99-67 Knights victory. Young followed that performance up with a huge senior night performance last Thursday evening against Bethesda University. Young set career-highs in points and rebounds scoring 26 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for his first double-double of his Nobel career. Young also dished out five assists and made three steals in the leading the Knight to a season-sweep of Bethesda with an 83-77 victory.
Young’s previous career high in points was 23 against NAIA Westcliff University last January. Young’s previous high of eight rebounds was achieved three times with last time occurring November 1st against Benedictine Mesa.
“It was a big surprise when my head coach told me that I was the player of the week. It is definitely a blessing and an honor for me to receive this award. It’s very humbling to have people recognize my accomplishments, Young said of the player of the week honors. “It’s a great feeling and shows me that all my hard work I have been putting in has paid off. To happen right now toward the end of my senior is very special for me. My goal since I came back from my injury was to finish my season strong.”
Young’s calming presence and leadership that he has shown since late last season has helped hold the Knights together throughout a tough 2025-2026 campaign. He is averaging
Last season Young was the Nobel’s second leading scorer averaging 9.6 ppg as well as averaging 4.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in earning recognition as a NCCAA All-American Nominee and making the NCCAA All-Region Honorable. Young had four - 20 point games in his junior year and one this season. Young played a leading role in upsetting 3rd seeded Lincoln University 70-69 in their inaugural SWS Conference tournament scoring 17 points, pulling down 8 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists.
“Last season was mentally and physically challenging especially at the beginning as I had never played at this high of level,” Young said. “I had to dig deep and push through the adversity in order tap into my potential. In the final month of last season we were able to have some success as a team and I was able to have some success personally which was refreshing for me and gave me something to build on going into my senior year this season.”
Jovan hopes his play this season will be enough in order for him to continue his basketball career overseas after he graduates this May.
“My ultimate goal is to be playing professionally overseas next season,” Young added. “I’m taking it one day at a time with a mindset of what I can do each day in order to accomplish this. All the hard work I’m putting in each day is with this goal in my mind. I have hoped to gain some post-season accolades that will give me more recognition to help me improve my resume to catch the attention of professional teams. This award will help in doing this.”
Congratulations again to Nobel University senior Jovan Young.

It has been a blessing for sure,” Young said of senior night “It was amazing to have such a great game on my senior night. I felt that senior night energy and my teammates did a great job supporting me tonight and stepping up to help me. Being here at Nobel these past two years there have been some highs and lows, but it has felt good to weather the storm and I did that through trusting in God who helped me to persevere through the adversity.”
Nobel (5-19, 5-3) fell behind early 8-2 as Miles Sulla and Shane Sands opened the game with back-to-back three-pointers. Young hit a mid-range jumper and then Caleb Palmer rebounded a missed shot by Young to cut the lead to 8-7. Freshman Ryder Moore than stepped into a three-point shot and drilled it after a nice feed by Ryan Frazer to give Nobel. 10-8 lead with 14:56 to play in the first half.
Palmer scored again and it was followed by a short jumper by junior Hannes Bergmann to make it 16-13 going into the first media timeout at the 12:55 mark. Young extended the Knights lead to 5 on a driving lay-up. Sophomore Max Aliakseyeu got into the act with a nice hook shot on an assists from Ryder Moore which was followed by a three-point play by Young to make it 23-18 with 9:20 left in the half.
Ryan Frazer scored his second basket of the night followed by another Young jumper to make it 27-19 Knights with 8:26 left in the half. Palmer scored on a nice no-look pass by Sparsh Kadyan followed by a Frazer lay-up on a feed from Palmer to cap a 13-3 Nobel run that gave the Knights a 31-21 advantage with 6:56 left in the half.
After a driving lay-up by Young, Kadyan hit a three-pointer on an assist from Young to make it 36-27 Knights with 4:28 left in the half. Young finished out the half with a 20-foot jumper to put the Knights up 41-33 going into the locker room. Young finished with 13 points in the first half.
Aliakseyeu came out in the second half on a 12-footer from the baseline on a great feed from Young and moments later Aliakseyeu rebounded. Frazer miss and put it back for two. But he wasn’t done as he took a feed from Frazer and scored another lay-up to make it 51-40 Nobel with 16:02 to play in the game. Then Moore took a feed from Young and scored a lay-up to give the Knights a 53-40 lead with 15:35 to play. Palmer would give the Knights their biggest led of the game on a lay-up set up by a Ryder Moore assist.
“I talked to Ryder (Moore) before the game and told him he needed to step-up tonight nice we had Mykale (Mundy) and Kevin (Hymes) out with injuries. I said you need to play with confidence and with confidence. Ryder played his butt off tonight and really helped us in many ways,” Young said of Moore. “We want to end this season strong and go to Arizona and go 2-0. We are battled tested from playing all those tough games early.”
Aliakseyeu made a nice feed to Frazer for a corner three and then Frazer returned the favor with a nice feed to Aliakseyeu for a lay-up for an 11-point lead with 8:44 to play. Bethesda made one final push cutting the Knights led to just two points on an Alex Pagan three with 5:28 to play to make it 71-70 Knights. Young went coast-to-coast for a lay-up to push the lead back to three and then Caleb Palmer took a perfect full court pass from Frazer and finished with vicious slam dunk to make it 75-70 with 4:25 to play in the game. Ryder Moore iced the game with a driving lay-up with 42 seconds left on a pass from and was fouled on the play and made the free throw to give the Knights an 8-point cushion and seconds later threw a full-court pass to Frazer for a monster slam with 28 seconds left to put an exclamation point on the victory.
Moore finished the game with 8 points 10 assists and 6 rebounds with 3 steals.
“This felt really good tonight to be able to be able have all aspects of my game clicking at one time,” Moore said. “It was inspiring watching Jovan have such a great performance on his senior night. He has been amazing to play with and learn from this year. Now we need to go to Arizona and finish this strong next weekend.”
Junior Ryan Frazer also had a standout game in multiple areas scoring 16 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the season. Frazer also had six assists and a block for the Knights. Caleb Palmer had 17 points and 8 rebounds. Frazer and Palmer are the only Knights to play in every game this season and the two have combine for 18 double-doubles and they are both averaging over 9 points and 7 rebounds per game this season.
“It feels very good to be able to get a chance to prove myself this season compared to last year at JUCO where I had very limited opportunities to do so,” said Palmer who averaged playing 9.8 minutes per game last season at Riverside Community College compared to playing 27.6 minutes per game at Nobel this season. “We had so many guys step up tonight including myself following Jovan’s lead out there and we were able to get a good win.”
Nobel will wrap up the season next weekend as they travel to Arizona to face Nelson University on Friday evening before playing Justice University on Saturday evening. The Knights have a chance to be a spoiler for both team’s league title hopes if they can pull-off the upset. The Knights have never beaten either team in the program’s brief history Justice (0-4) and Nelson (0-3), but have had some close battles with both squads. Hopefully next weekend will be different. We will see.

MBB GETS MUCH NEEDED ROAD CONFERENCE WIN AT WCB
Nobel University has been reeling the last two weeks losing three in a row in conference after starting a promising 3-0 in SWS Conference play. During that time the Knights endured injuries to four key players, three of which were starters in co-captains Mykale Mundy and Jovan Young, as well as starting center Max Aliakseyeu and 6th man Ryder Moore. Aliakseyeu has been out nice the Knights last victory in mid-January over league rival Bethesda University. Young went down in the early minutes of the Nobel’s (4–17, 4-3) 84-58 loss to Justice University back on January 22nd. Mundy and Moore joined Young and Aliakseyeu on the Knights injured list in their last game, a 90-73 home loss to Thursday night’s opponent West Coast Baptist (5-12, 4-5).
Young, Aliakseyeu, and Moore all made it back onto the court Thursday night as Nobel travelled to Lancaster to face the Eagles. All three made major contributions, but it was Young who really stood out for Nobel scoring a game-high 20 points with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. Aliakseyeu had a solid stat line in limited minutes scoring 8 points and grabbing 5 rebounds with 2 assist and 1 blocked shot. Juniors Kevin Hymes and Ryan Frazer nd sophomore Caleb Palmer also came up big for the Knights as Hymes scored 18 points with three rebounds, 2 assists, and three steals, Palmer had 17 points and 12 rebounds with 2 assists and 2 blocks, and Frazer got his team-leading 11th double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds along with making four steals and two assists leading the Knights in a wire-to-wire resounding 99-67 victory over West Coast Baptist to keep their slim SWS title hopes alive.
“We came out strong tonight and played very well as a team. We had so many guys contributing tonight making this a true team victory,” Young, the Knights senior captain who had a season-high 20 points said. “It was so hard for me going down for two of our biggest games of the season (Justice and Nelson) and having to watch from the sidelines. I felt sort of helpless and that I let my team down by being out. It felt really good to get back in there tonight and help my team get a big road win. We want to keep this momentum going over the last three games of the season and turn some heads in conference.”
Hymes help the Knights start quickly scoring seven of their first 14 points to take a 14-8 lead five minutes into the game and the Knights kept building the lead over the next 15 minutes behind Young and Frazer with they both scoring 8 points each in the first half. Hymes ended the first half with an 18-footer at the buzzer to extend the Nobel lead to 43-26 at the break.
Frazer started the second half strong scoring two early baskets including one of his two three-pointers help the Knights push their advantage to 20. Frazer also did it on the defensive ends making three steals and Young also had two steals to lead to easy baskets for Caleb Palmer who had two rim-rattling dunks to put Nobel up 74-44 with 8:56 to play in the game.
“We are a better team then what our record shows. Tonight we played as a team and played well defensively which helped us get out in transition and score easy baskets,” Frazer said. “We’ve seen every team in the conference and we know we can compete with everyone. Hopefully we can build on tonight and finish the season strong.”
Aliakseyeu scored a couple of second-half baskets and also had a nice shot block of the Eagles 6’8 big man Lenny Rnchin shaking off the rust from his month long lay-off due to a grade 2 ankle sprain. While there is room for improvement Aliakseyeu is happy to be back on the court.
“It was so hard not being able to play for so long. I don’t like being on bench and not being able to play. I have to play better and help team to win games,” Aliakseyeu an 2024-25 All-Conference Honorable selection said. “I’m glad to be able help team some tonight, but I want to do more and show what kind of player I am.”
6’7 forward Hannes Bergmann also played strong off the bench scoring 11 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in only 10 minutes Thursday night. Bergmann, who came to the Knights at mid-season has played solidly for the Knights turning in two double-figure rebounding performances and getting his first double-figure point performance against the Eagles.
“I’m very happy to get a chance for a fresh start here at Nobel and get a chance to contribute to help our team tonight,” Bergmann said. “We just need to keep playing hard and playing together as a team. If e can do that we can do well the rest of the season.”
What made the victory even more impressive is the fact Knights leading scorer sophomore Mykale Mundy was not able to play for the second straight gam due to injury, but Mundy, a o-captain was on the bench throughout the game encouraging his teammates. He was very pleased with the Knights performance.
“It’s hard to not be able to play. I do not like sitting out and not playing,” Mundy who is averaging a team-high 14 PPG for the season and 17 pts and 8 rebounds in 5 SWS games. “It was a little easier for me tonight watching my teammates play so well and take car of business. I hope to get back for our last three games and help my team win.”
Nobel Associate head coach Deon Coleman was very please with way the Knights played on Thursday night.
“It was a good night and a great win. We had to play through some adversity in the first half as we were not getting some calls, but every time they made a run we were able to answer it and we competed very well as a unit throughout,” Coleman said. “It started in the locker room when our captain Jovan Young addressed the team encouraging them to play hard and play together. It was great to have him back tonight. He was leader for us tonight.
Kevin Hymes did a good scoring the ball and getting us going early. Max also was really big for us coming back tonight. He helped us establish a strong presence in the paint early scoring some points and blocking some shots. Hannes (Bergmann) did good job brought some good energy off the bench tonight. Caleb (Palmer) did some good things and so did Ryan Frazer. We just need to keep this going into our last three games.”
Nobel will return to the court next Thursday for their final home game of the season against Bethesda at 5 PM. Come out and support the Knights!

BASE: KNIGHTS DROP 4-GAME SERIES @ LA SIERRA
Riverside, Calif. — It was a challenging weekend on the road for Nobel University Baseball, as the Knights endured a difficult four-game stretch at La Sierra University in Riverside, facing a seasoned and physical NAIA opponent.
Across the series, the Knights struggled to find offensive rhythm, managing eight total runs while surrendering 50 over the four games. Against a veteran La Sierra squad that applied constant pressure on both sides of the ball, Nobel was unable to consistently compete in key moments, and the weekend ultimately swung heavily in the Lions’ favor.
While the scoreboard told a difficult story, the weekend was not without purpose.
The series exposed areas that demand immediate growth—execution, depth, and consistency—but it also provided valuable clarity for a young Knights roster navigating the grind of a long season. Competing on the road against a tough NAIA opponent offered a measuring stick for where the program stands and where it must go next.
“This is part of the process,” the Knights’ coaching staff emphasized. “Adversity reveals truth. Now we go back to work.”
With a few days off ahead, Nobel Baseball will return to the drawing board—resetting, refining, and recommitting. The Knights will focus on tightening fundamentals, sharpening their competitive edge, and preparing for the battles still to come.
The season is long. The lessons are earned. And the response will define what follows.
The Knights regroup.
They sharpen their iron.
And they prepare for the road ahead.

MBB: SHORT-HANDED KNIGHTS BATTLE THROUGH ADVERSITY, SIT 3-3 IN SWS CONF.
Los Angeles, CA - Nobel University men’s basketball fell to West Coast Baptist, 90–73, on Saturday night, dropping to 3–3 in SWS Conference play—but the final score only tells part of the story. In one of the most physically and mentally demanding stretches of the season, the Knights competed severely undermanned, missing six key rotational players and four of their five starters. Against a deep, battle-tested conference opponent, Nobel was forced to lean on heart, toughness, and next-man-up belief.
Absent from the floor were Mykale Mundy, Jovan Young, Maksim Aliakseyeu, Marcell Galloway, Erik Garcia, and Ryder Moore—a core group that accounts for the backbone of the Knights’ identity on both ends of the floor. In a league as unforgiving as the SWS, margin for error is razor thin. When you’re not close to full strength, the cost is steep. Still, Nobel competed, fought, and refused to fold despite the odds stacked heavily against them.
The brightest silver lining came in the form of 6’7 sophomore Caleb Palmer, who delivered a breakout performance under pressure. Palmer poured in 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and lived at the free throw line—going 12-for-14, a season-best showing. Time and again, he attacked the paint, absorbed contact, and steadied the Knights when they needed answers. Night after night, Palmer continues to prove what many around the conference are beginning to recognize: he may be the most complete frontcourt wing in the SWS, blending size, skill, and competitiveness at a high level.
Now at the midpoint of conference play, the Knights welcome a much-needed full week off, an opportunity to recover, reset, and regain health. Nobel will return to action next Saturday against Lincoln, an out-of-division matchup that offers a valuable tune-up before the grind resumes. From there, the Knights head back into conference battle, opening the second round of division play February 12th at West Coast Baptist.
The season is far from defined by one night—or one stretch of adversity. If anything, moments like this sharpen resolve. With health returning and lessons learned, Nobel University men’s basketball remains very much in the fight. In this conference, survival demands strength. And the Knights are determined to get it back.

MBB: KNIGHTS DROP 2 BIG CONFERENCE GAMES
Los Angeles - The Nobel Knights took on the defending conference champions and defending NCCAA National Champions in two key SWS Conference game this past week. The Knights started strong against Justice University building an 8 point lead with five minutes to play in the first half and were still up two points at the half despite losing senior co-captain Jovan Young just five minutes into the game. Unfortunately Nobel could not sustain their first half success as Justice went on an 18-0 run early in the 2nd half to rally for a 84-58 victory over the Knights.
The Knights were led by junior Kevin Hymes who scored a season-high 24 points with 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Mykale Mundy had his 2nd consecutive double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds with 4 assists. Freshman Ryder Moore had 6 points and 5 steals for the Knights.
The Knights started strong with Hymes and Mundy scoring six points each and Moore scoring four points to help the Knights build a 29-21 lead. Justice fought back hitting consecutive threes with Jayson Cameron and Jaden Walker to cut the lead to 29-27. Walker hit another lead to take a 33-31 lead with 1:35 to play in the half before Moore tied the game with a lay-up on a feed from Ryan Frazer and Hymes followed with a jumper with 34 seconds to play to give the Knights a 35-33 lead going into the locker room.
In the second half after two Hymes free throws gave Nobel a 41-40 lead, Justice went on a 18-0 run led by six points each from Walker and Moses Demalek and four points from Jaydon Cameron to build a 58-41 lead with 9:55 to play and the Lions cruised to the victory.
“We played really well in the first half, we were sharing the ball and getting on the floor for loose balls multiple times, but in the second half they just outplayed us,” said head coach Les Bean. “We need to be able to play hard for 40 minutes. That’s been a struggle for us this season.”
In the second game of the weekend the Knights took on the defending NCCAA national champions, the Nelson University Warriors. Nobel struggled mightily against Nelson last season losing by 30 and 35 points.
Right from the outset the Knights showed that they came to play on Saturday afternoon as Nobel jumped out to a 19-10 lead. Caleb Palmer, Mykale Mundy, and Kevin Hymes scoring four points each and Ryan Frazer converted a three-point play and Seven Ferguson hit a three-pointer to build the early 9 point advantage with 13:46 to play in the first half.
Nelson answered with a 10-0 run to take a 20-19 lead with 11:24 to play in the half. Ryder Moore and Palmer scored back-to-back lay-ups to again put the Knights up 23-20. However, Orlando Gonzales hit two three-pointers as part of an 11-3 over the next four minutes to put the Warriors back on top 31-26 with 6:40 to play in the half. Ryan Frazer helped bring the Knights back within two with a pair of free throws and a corner three-pointer. Mundy scored a basket just before halftime to bring the Knights within one at 40-39.
The second half was more of the same as both teams traded runs. Kevin Hymes tied the game at 41 with a mid-range jumper with 18:41 to play in the game. After four consecutive points by the Warriors, Mundy and Frazer scored consecutive baskets to tie the game again at 45 with 16:16 to play.
Nelson would score the next six points to take a 51-45 lead, but the Knights would again answer on a Sparsh Kadyan basket, a Caleb Palmer driving lay-up and then a leaping rebound and putback by Kevin Hymes to tie the game at 51 with 12:33 to play. With Nelson leading 58-53 with 10:45 remaining Mundy hit a corner three-pointer and followed by making one of two from the foul line to cut the Warriors lead to 58-57 with 9:55 to play. A 7-0 run by Nelson pushed the Warriors lead to 8 and moments later they would go up 10 on a Jermaine Earnest jumper with 5:22 to play.
The Knights would not go quietly as Mundy and Frazer would score baskets to cut the lead to 6 with 2:50 to play. Frazer and Hymes would make four consecutive foul shots to cut the lead to 76-71 with 1:40 remaining. The Knights looked to have made another defensive stop, but could not secure a defensive rebound twice and Terrin Ross got a rebound and putback to ice the game with 45 seconds left and the Warriors would escape with a hard-fought 79-72 victory.
“I felt that we have been playing better as a team these last few games and not giving up when we get behind,” Frazer said. “We just need to do the little things more consistently and not allowing so many big runs.”
Mykale Mundy led the way for the Knights with 21 points 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Caleb Palmer recorded his 5th double-double of the season with 16 points and 15 rebounds with 5 assists and three blocks. Ryan Frazer also recorded his 8th double-double with 15 points and 11 boards with 3 steals. Kevin Hymes had 12 points and 11 rebounds and three assists, and Hannes Bergmann had 10 rebounds in his third game with the Knights.
What doomed the Knights was 11 missed fouls shots and 15 second chance points for Nelson along with putting the Warriors on the foul line 35 times (they made 24).
“We played hard today and kept fighting back throughout the game,” Mundy said. “I was proud of our team’s effort, but they just made a few more plays than we did.”
Nobel will be back in action on Saturday against West Coast Baptist on Saturday at 4 pm at LACC. Come out and support the Knights. #swordsup

MBB: HISTORY MADE WITH WIN VS BETHESDA 96-79
Los Angeles - Nobel has had a tough first half of the season playing a rigorous schedule playing 13 NCAA Division I and II opponents. The Knights are now in their Southwestern States Conference (SWS) hoping to pull from the experience they gained playing a tough non-conference schedule to compete for a conference championship.
On Friday evening Nobel hosted Bethesda hoping to gain their first victory in school history over the Lion Angels. The Knights broke open a close game in the second half building as much as a 25 point advantage to pull away from the Lion Angels to earn a historic first victory 96-79. Sophomore Mykale Mundy led the Knights with a monster double-double of 20 points and 18 rebounds. Fellow sophomore Caleb Palmer also recorded a double-double with 17 and 10 rebounds. In total five Knights scored in double-figures to help Nobel stay undefeated in SWS play and earn their first victory over Bethesda. For Mundy it was his career-high in rebounds setting a school record with 18, it was also his 16th game in double-figures and 5th in the last six games.
“It felt good to get a win today. I just try to always play hard and do whatever I can to help the team win,” said Mundy. “When they started out so strong we had to tighten up our defense and making plays on both ends of the court and we did that today.”
Nobel head coach Les Bean was happy to get the win, but knows the team needs to play better in order to beat the top teams in the league.
“This was a important win for Nobel to beat Bethesda. We did some things very well today, but we still have a lot to work on going forward if we want to compete for a conference championship,” Knights head coach Les Bean said. “Mykale and Caleb had solid performances today. Jovan Young and Ryan Frazer also played well today. When you have multiple players stepping up it gives you a good chance to win some games. We have to clean up our mistakes if we want to continue to have success going forward.”
The game did not start well for the Knights as Bethesda made six of the first seven three-point attempts to take an early 18-11 lead with 13:52 left in the first half. After a time-out the Knights Inserted junior Kevin Hymes to try to continue Lion Angels’ senior guard Cameron Durr who had scored nine points during the first 6 minutes of the game.
Hymes immediately made an impact forcing a Durr turnover which led to a Mundy basket to cut the lead to 5. Hymes then got a steal and went Coast-to-Coast for a lay-up. Robert Ogola then blocked a Durr shot which Mundy rebounded and dished to Palmer for a basket. Young then found an open Ryan Frazer for an open three-pointer from the corner to give the Knights their first lead of the game at 22-20 with 8:32 to play. Hymes and Mundy would hit mid-range jumpers to cap the 15-2 Knights run giving Nobel a 26-20 lead with 6:46 to play in the half.
Nobel would continue to roll offensively as Young would score four more points and dish out a total of four assists in the first half setting up Palmer and Frazer for baskets as well as freshman Ryder Moore, to help the Knights take a 48-39 lead into the locker room.
“I just tried to do whatever I could to stop my man from scoring on me,” said Hymes who finished with 13 points 4 assists, and 4 rebounds. “On offense I just tried to score and also create for my teammates.”
Nobel came out strong In the second half with Mundy, Palmer, and Young scoring consecutive baskets to push the Knights lead to 13 at 55-42 with 15:22 left in the game. Bethesda rallied thanks to 3 three-pointers by Edward Spencer, Miles Sulla, and Zeke Bennett to cut the Nobel lead to 60-55 with 13:26 to play. The Lion Angels had a chance to cut into the lead even more, but Kevin Hymes made a big block of a Cameron Durr shot attempt which sparked a fast break that ended with a Frazer basket. The Knights made another stop and Young grabbed the rebound and set-up junior Sparsh Kadyan for a corner three to push the lead back to 10. Frazer then made a nice outlet pass to a streaking Ryder Moore for a lay-up and Young made a steal and took it down and pulled up for a short jumper to cap a 9-0 run that put Nobel back up 69-55 11:24 to play in the game.
“I felt that we played really well as a team today with everyone contributing something to help us get a big win,” said Young who finished with 13 points, a team-high 8 assists with 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. “We needed to have a good start in conference and I think we did that today. We still can improve on some things, but a game like this shows how good we can be when we work together.”
Kevin Hymes came back in and again provided a spark for the Knights with a lay-up and a mid-range jumper as well as dishing out assists to Young and Palmer to extend the lead to 77-59 with 7:55 to play. Moments later Palmer would get a steal and take it all the way to the rim finishing with a monster jam, he would also make 2 free throws to extend the Knights advantage to 19 with 5:45 remaining.
Bethesda put together one more push scoring 10 consecutive points with Sulka hitting two three-pointers that cut the Nobel lead to 9 with 4:34 to play. Ryan Frazer made a nice block and threw a pass up to Palmer for a two-handed slam and Kevin Hymes made a short jumper on a feed from Frazer to push the lead back to 14 with 3:18 to play. Seven Ferguson got into the act hitting a 15-footer on a nice feed from Palmer. Palmer put an exclamation point on the victory with another big slam on a feed from Frazer to make it 93-75 with 1:42 to play and the Knights made history with their first victory over Bethesda. Frazer finished with his team leading 7th double-double of the season scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
“I started out a little slow in the first half, but I started to get things going in the second half that helped our team pull away,” Frazer said. I was trying to really concentrate on grabbing rebounds today and wanted to do whatever I could to help the team win. We just need to keep it rolling next week against Justice and Nelson.”
Nobel (3-14, 3-0) will host defending league champion Justice University on Thursday and then play defending NCCAA National Champion Nelson University on Saturday.

MBB-KNIGHTS START 2-0 IN SWS CONFERENCE PLAY
Los Angeles - The Nobel Knights men’s basketball team has fought hard through the toughest schedule a Non-Division I team could have played seven D1s, six D2s, and seven NAIAs which has resulted in the Knights not picking up a victory since late October.
Saturday afternoon the Knights played their second Southwestern States Conference game against California Interscholastic University (CIU) at Los Angeles Community College in hopes of breaking through into win column. Nobel used a strong defensive effort that forced 25 CIU turnovers and the Knights were able to capitalize on those mistakes to jump out an early 15-point advantage. Nobel kept its foot on the gas and were able to pull away in the second half to earn a 105-68 victory over CIU.
The Knights were led by sophomore forward Caleb Palmer who recorded a double-double with a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Mykale Mundy also scored 17 points, with 5 rebounds, and 5 steals, and freshman guard Ryder Moore has his best game as a collegiate scoring a career-high 16 points while dishing out 11 assists.
“This was a very important game for us to play well and get a win after playing such a tough schedule. It felt good to have some success,” Moore said. “It’s important for us to keep on playing hard and together and keep build off this momentum.”
Late in the second half senior Jovan Young poked the ball away from a CIU player diving on the floor making a perfect pass to a streaking Ryder Moore, who put an exclamation point on his breakout performance with a rim-rattling slam dunk making it 99-60 Knights lead with 3:25 to play.
Young, the Knights co-captain, also had a standout performance as well scoring 14 points with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Young has averaged 13 points and 4 rebounds per game over the last four games. Young is glad to be able to help the team and get a victory.
“This was a really good team win for us. It was nice to see so many players have good games was important and it was nice to see,” Young said. “I feel we have a very good team and we need to keep playing hard and together. We need to keep building on this momentum going into our game Friday against Bethesda. I’m just trying to be more aggressive and make things happen. We can do something special in conference if we work together and play for each other.”
Juniors Ryan Frazer and Kevin Hymes scored 14 and 13 points respectively, Frazer also grabbed 10 rebounds and Hymes had 5 steals and 4 assists helping the Knights set two program records with the most points scored in one game with 105 and also with six players scoring in double-figures. Palmer also set a career-high with his 17 points, which included two powerful slam dunks and he also grabbed 12 rebounds. Mundy, also a Knights co-captain continued his strong play this season recording his 15th double-figure scoring game of the season while also grabbing 5 rebounds and making 3 steals and dishing out 3 assists.
Knights’ head coach Les Bean was happy with the Knights effort on Saturday.
“This game was good for our confidence and give us another important conference victory. A lot of guys played well today. Caleb Palmer and Ryder did a great job today getting us going,” Bean said. “Jovan Young and Mykale Mundy also played solidly today as did Ryan Frazer and Kevin Hymes. We need to continue to build on this victory and use it as we go into the heart of our conference Friday against Bethesda.”
With the victory the Nobel improved to 2-0 in the SWS Conference going into Friday’s NCCAA division conference opener against Bethesda as the Knights try to beat the Warriors for the first time in program history. Come out and support the Knights as they try to take another big step toward their ultimate goal of winning a conference championship. #SwordsUp

The game was a good battle throughout as both teams traded leads throughout the first half. The Trojans pulled ahead in the early part of the 2nd half before the Knights rallied to tie the score at 44 with 14 minutes to play, but then USC went on a 16-2 run over the next five minutes to take control and never let up in an 83-68 victory over the Knights.
The Knights started strong behind freshman Ryder Moore and junior Marcell Galloway who both had six points early helping the Knights to take a 22-18 advantage. USC roared back taking a 30-26 lead with 4:25 remaining. Galloway and freshman Weston Maddox both hit baskets and well as Seven Ferguson to tie the game 32. USC took the lead at halftime as the Trojans finished the half on a 8-0 run for a 40-32 lead.
In the second half Moore scored four early points and Galloway and Maddox hit threes to help the Knights tie the game at 46. Again the Trojans club team answered as Alex Watkins score 10 of his team high 18 points during a 20-4 run to take a 66-50 lead with 6:25 to play and they were never challenged again.
Galloway led all scorers with 23 points for Nobel and he also had 6 rebounds and 3 assists. “We had a great start to the game today, the energy was high and we played inspired basketball,” said Moore who hails from New Zealand. “As the game wore on though we started making too many mistakes and weren’t doing the little things we needed to be successful and they came back and beat us.”
The Knights will play again next Tuesday against Hope International University’s developmental team and then a week later against Cal Prestige University. Overall the developmental team has shown some improvement since the beginning of the season and are starting to get comfortable playing with each other.
“This has been a great opportunity in a good environment to embrace the challenge or playing college basketball and build ourselves as individuals and as a collective group,” Moore added. “For me the developmental team is perfect for me to learn and grow as this is my first year playing college basketball which has helped me get more comfortable playing in college. In the next couple games we will continue to keep building together step-by-step and stay together as a team and keep encouraging each other.”

MBB: CSUN RECAP + HAWAII TOUR 25
Honolulu – The Nobel University Knights have had a very busy week playing Division I foe Cal State Northridge on Monday night on ESPN + in which the Knights fought hard throughout, but could not overcome the Matadors falling 99-58. Sophomore Mykale Mundy led the way scoring 14 points with four rebounds and three assists. Seven Ferguson came off the bench and scored seven points. Kaleb Salazar scored six points off the bench as well.
The next day the Knights travelled across the Pacific Ocean for a three-game road trip in Hawaii against three Division 2 opponents. The first stop was on Wednesday night against Hawaii Hilo. Nobel came out with an inspired effort playing under control and solid defense. Offensively it took the Knights a little bit to get it going. Trailing 26-15 with 6:02 to play in the first half, Mundy got it going scoring eight points and junior Erik Garcia made a steal and threw it to an open Ryan Frazer in the corner and he buried a three-pointer with 2.4 seconds left in the half as part of a 12-6 run to cut the Vulcans lead to 32-27 at the break.
In the second half the Knights defense continued to stymie the Hilo offense holding the Vulcans to just two points in the first six minutes of the second half and senior Jovan Young scored on two driving lay-ups to cut the deficit to 34-31 with 13:38 to play.
Hilo offense finally woke up hitting three 3 point shots as part of 15-1 run over the next seven minutes to put the Vulcans in control up 19 with 6:28 to play in the contest and the Knights could not recover losing 71-49 to Hilo. Mundy led the way with 22 points and four rebounds. Jovan Young scored 9 points and had four rebounds despite playing only 18 minutes due to foul trouble.
On Friday night Nobel (0-3) moved over to Honolulu to face Chaminade. The Silverswords were playing their first regular season game after a strong 2024-2025 campaign with a senior-laiden roster. Chaminade came out with a full-court pressure defense that left the Knights shell-shocked committing nine turnovers in the game’s first six minutes that helped them to take a 26-4 lead with 14:31 to play in the first half.
Junior Marcell Galloway started to get things going scoring four straight points and then junior Erik Garcia got a steal and basket to make it 28-10. The Silverswords pressure continued to cause problems for the Knights as they committed five more turnovers to build its lead back to 36-12. Ryan Frazer scored five straight points on a dunk and a 3-point play to cut the lead to 19.
Galloway scored four straight points on a jumper and a driving lay-up on a perfect pass from Frazer to cut the lead to 39-22with 6:25 to play in the half. Chaminade answered with a 15-6 run to take a 54-26 lead with 3:25 to play in the half.
Caleb Palmer stepped up with a big block to ignite a Knights fast break as Jovan Young finished on a nice full court pass from Kevin Hymes. Mundy would then score on a driving lay-up and Young would get a nice full court pass from freshman Ryder Moore and lay it in. Moments later Palmer would get a nice alley-oop pass from Hymes for a resounding slam to cap a 10-3 run by Nobel to make it 57-36 with 2:10 left in the half.
“This level is a lot faster pace than playing in JUCO. I think I’m starting to adapt to it the more games I play. I’m ready for more challenges,” said Palmer who finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds with two blocks in his first start of the season. “I like it. I like having to play against bigger and more experienced players who think they can outmuscle me. Playing against good competition is a lot of fun. I can see better what I can do and what I still need to develop in my game to be successful.”
Down by 37 just four minutes into the second half the Knights started to put things together as Mundy scored four straight points and then Palmer added a driving lay-up followed by an Erik Garcia driving lay-up on a nice feed from Ryan Frazer. Ryder Moore made a steal in the backcourt and made a foul line jumper to cap an 11-2 run by Nobel making the score 85-57 with 12:26 to play.
Later Galloway scored four straight points and Young made two foul shots to cut the lead to 22 with 7:28 to play in the game, but that would be as close as the Knights would get as Chaminade would close it out for a 115-80 victory over the Knights.
Mundy would again lead the Knights in scoring with 20 points and he also had 8 rebounds. Ryan Frazer would finish with 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists in the game. Galloway would finish with a season-high 17 points with three boards and two assists. Kevin Hymes also had 8 points 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Jovan Young also finished with 8 points and 3 rebounds for the Knights.
The Knights will play Saturday evening at Hawaii Pacific in their final game of their three-game Hawaii trip.
Galloway believes better days are ahead for the Knights.
“I feel like this trip is bonding us together as one unit fighting together for one common goal. I think a lot of guys are trying to figure out what they need to do to be successful individually and as a team,” said Galloway who is in his third season playing for Bean in college. “in order to get the success we want to have we got to keep putting in the work. My dad always has said to me ‘You don’t get tired until you’re tired. I feel we have the guys here who can do great things. I think we are very close to making a breakthrough and surprising people.”

MBB: KNIGHTS KICKS-OFF 25-26 SEASON STRONG
Los Angeles – The Nobel Knights men’s basketball team kicked off their second season on Sunday afternoon as they took on the Cal Mirimar Fighting Falcons in a Season-Opening scrimmage at the Knights home gym Los Angeles City College.
The Knights have a good mix of returners and newcomers coming into the 2025-2026 season. Nobel had four players in double-figures and their defense forced 29 turnovers to roll to a 95-62 victory over Cal Mirimar.
Junior Ryan Frazer scored five of the first 12 points for the Knights as took a 12-3 advantage just four minutes in as he drained a three-pointer and later worked hard on the offensive glass getting two rebounds and a putback.
Sophomore Mykale Mundy also got his motor going early driving to the basket twice and making nice finishes to score four early points. Junior Erik Garcia came in and made an immediate impact, knocking down a three-pointer to put the Knights up by 12. Sophomore Caleb Palmer got into the act with consecutive baskets on nice feeds by Garcia to make it 20-7 Knights with 12:27 left in the first half.
The Knights defense continued to play havoc on the Falcons forcing 13 first half turnovers which led to 16 points for the Knights. Mundy, junior Kevin Hymes and senior Jovan Young combined for 10 first half steals.
The quartet of Frazer, Mundy, Palmer, and Hymes combined for 40 of the Knights 47 points to take a 47-27 halftime lead.
“Every single day during the pre-season we have been working together and grinding to prepare for this moment today. Executing, playing with energy, and consistency is something our coaches expect from us. I think this was a great game for us today,” said Frazer who had 16 points and 16 rebounds in his first game as a Knight. “Being able to work on something and then actually have it translate to real games is a great life lesson. I really feel our team has a great family atmosphere, we have a good energy and we play together.”
Young started the 2nd half with driving coast-to-coast for a basket his 2nd of the game. However, Young’s impact was in his leadership. Young finished the game with 7 points, a team-leading 8 assists, 5 steals, and 7 rebounds. The most impressive stat was no turnovers despite having the ball in his hands most of the game.
“Our communication is great. It is something our coaches overemphasize since Day One when we got here this year. We got to be a family, being brothers. We have to be able to communicate with each other,” said Young who is one of two seniors. “When things start going haywire at times. We have to be able to calm down and communicate in order to get things back together.”
Hymes and Mundy continued to score off their defense making two steals a piece that sparked a 14-2 run. Junior Marcell Galloway got into the act getting a steal and converting a three-point play to extend the Knights lead to 34 and freshman Ryder Moore took a feed from Mundy to get a lay-up to make it 90-55.
“I love being back and playing for Coach Bean. He understands everything that is in store for me. I love our team, we all work hard and that is what happened today,” said Mundy who had 17 points 6 boards, 4 steals and three assists. “This game was important as it sets the tone for our season and help us prepare for our upcoming challenges like next week against Benedictine and Northridge.”
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday against NAIA foe Benedictine Mesa and then they will play their first Division I opponent next Monday against Cal State Northridge.
Nobel head coach Les Bean was pleased with his team’s performance, but he knows there is still work to do to be able to compete against the Knights’ brutal schedule.
“Everyone came out today with a purpose and we executed enough which sets the tone for this season. Jovan led with his leadership on the court. Everyone fed off that. He is surrounded by some really good guards which allows him to do the intangibles (assists, steals, rebounds),” Bean said. “Ryan’s (Frazer) also played well. He is a grinder, he can do it all, he can rebound, he can score, he is an Energizer Bunny that does everything well.” Bean added, “Next week’s game against Benedictine Mesa is going to be tough. It’s going to be our first challenge. But win or lose we can make a statement if can compete.”

MSOC: INAUGURAL SEASON OFFICIALLY CONCLUDES
The Nobel Knights men’s soccer team finished its inaugural season on Halloween in game against California Intercoastal University at the Lake Forrest Sports Complex. The Knights fell behind 5-0 at halftime as CIU blitzed the Knights’ defense and freshman goalie Aleksander Milanov.
As they have done all season Nobel did not give up fighting back to within 5-3 with three 2nd half goals. The first goal came in the 55th minute by Jose Urbina his first goal of the season. The Knights kept charging as Pablo Molinos scored two goals seven minutes in the 71st and 78th minute of the game.
The Knights had a couple of good scoring chances but could not convert their chances and CIU scored a clinching goal in the 82nd minute. Molinos, who has been one of the bright spots for the Knights this season both as a goalie with three victories in net, and as a midfielder. Molinos thought he had a hat trick as he scored a third goal in the 88th minute, but it was negated by a late offside call by the referee, and the game ended 6-3 in favor CIU.
The Knights finished their inaugural season with a record of 3 wins 10 losses and 1 tie. Head coach Evan Camperell was pleased with the first season for the Knights.
“The kids fought hard every game and never gave up despite a lot of adversity,” Camperell said. “It was an up and down season and we had to make a lot of adjustments due to multiple injuries to key players, but the core of the team stuck together and I am glad that I was able to coach these young men this season. This year we established a good foundation for the program and we hope to build on that next season.”
Great job Knights you did your university proud.

MSOC: KNIGHTS FACED TOUGH 2-GAME CONFERENCE STAND
Riverside - Nobel played its last NAIA opponent La Sierra on Sunday night hoping to build some momentum going into Southwestern Schools Conference (SWS) play next week. The Knights got off to a good start scoring the first two goals of
The Nobel University soccer team had a tall task this weekend playing two of the toughest teams in their conference in Justice University and Nelson University. The Knights fought hard in both games earning a 2-2 tie against Justice on Friday afternoon and dropping a 1-0 decision to Nelson University on Saturday evening.
Friday’s game against Justice did not start out well for the Knights as the Lions scored just six minutes into the game as Edgar Hernandez took a feed from Pablo Elorreaga and beat Knights goaltender Aleksandar Milanov to take a 1-0 lead. In the 24th minute Elorreaga set the table again this time for Yahir Alcantar who beat Milanov to extend the Lions advantage to 2-0.
The Knights however kept fighting and were rewarded when Matheus Batista took a feed from Elijah Kwatsinu and beat the Justice goalie Ricardo Perez at the 30:32 mark to cut the Lions lead in half at 2-1 and give the Knights some much-needed momentum going into the second half.
Both teams had some great scoring chances in the second half, but new Justice goalie Ivan Luja and Milanov held strong keeping the ball out of the net. Just when it was looking like Justice would escape with a victory Batista struck again in the 83rd minute taking a feed from Kolby Gibson-White and beating Luja to tie the game at 2. That’s the way the game would end as the Knights earned a hard-fought tie and took the season series from the Lions winning once in Arizona 1-0 and then earning the tie on Friday.
“I’m proud of our team they didn’t hang their heads when we fell behind early. We kept pushing and got rewarded when Matheus scored the first goal,” Nobel head coach Evan Camperell said. “Matheus made a huge shot there at the end to pull us even. He played a great game for us and Aleksander was outstanding in goal especially in the 2nd half.”
On Saturday night the Knights faced off against SWS conference leader Nelson University, who had thoroughly beaten them back in September 5-0. On this night it would be a battle.
In the first half Nobel (3-10-1, 2-3-1) and Nelson went toe-to-toe as both the Knights goalie Pablo Molinos and the Warriors goaltender Jonathan Garza made four saves each. Late in the first half at 41st minute Nobel looked like it had taken the lead as Diego Martinez beat Garza for a goal. However, a late offsides call negated the goal and the two teams went to intermission in a scoreless tie.
The second half was almost a carbon copy as the two teams traded scoring chance, but again Molinos and Garza were up to the task turning away multiple scoring chances.

MSOC: KNIGHTS BATTLED TOUGH, BUT FALL 5-3 TO LA SIERRA
Riverside - Nobel played its last NAIA opponent La Sierra on Sunday night hoping to build some momentum going into Southwestern Schools Conference (SWS) play next week. The Knights got off to a good start scoring the first two goals of the contest in the first half and they went into halftime still up by one.
But then Nobel (2-5) was blindsided by a speeding locomotive whose name was Sean Palena, who scored four goals in six minutes to turn a one goal deficit to a three goal lead and La Sierra (2-0-1) held on for a 5-3 comeback victory.
“We played a strong first half and we were in a good position going into the second half,” Nobel head coach Evan Camperell said. “Unfortunately one player beat us as defensively we broke down early in the second half and it cost us. We have to get back to work and sharpen our focus going into conference play next week.”
With the Knights leading 2-1 starting the second half Palena started a magical six minutes. Palena blasted a shot past goalie Pablo Molinos just seven minutes into the second half to tie the game at 2 in the 52nd minute. Palena was just getting warmed up. 40 seconds later he took a nice feed from Carlos Leon and put a shot past Molinos to give La Sierra their first lead of the night 3-2 at 52:54.
Just over two minutes later Palena scored his third consecutive goal at 55:02 to extend the Eagles lead to 4-2. To complete the incredible stretch Palena beat Molinos again in the 57th minute to make the score 5-2 in favor of the Eagles and the Knights could not recover.
“This is a tough way to lose, but we have to look at the positives and correct our mistakes,” Camperell added. “Our nonconference has hopefully prepared us to be successful in our conference as our goal is to win it and go to the Nationals in November.”
Nobel started the game off well as Matheus Batista gave the Knights a 1-0 lead on a nice feed from Gabriel De Sousa and beat Abraham Perez at 9:45. Anass Chakhss extended the Nobel lead to 2-0 as he scored on a feed from Carlos Juarez at 29:54. Molinos was doing a great job turning away the Eagles for almost the whole first half until La Sierra broke through with a goal in the 43rd minute as Vinicius Goncalves beat Molinos to cut the Knights lead in half at 2-1.
Goncalves goal was the first of five consecutive goals for La Sierra. Nobel forward Reinaldo Kichofel finally broke the Eagles run with his first goal of the season on a great feed by Chakhss in the 73rd minute to cut La Sierra’s lead to 5-3, but that would be as close as the Knights would get. Chakhss has recorded a goal and an assist in two straight games now. For Batista his 1st half goal was his 3rd of the season.
Nobel will take to the road next weekend as they travel to Arizona to face two conference foes playing Nelson on Saturday, September 27th and then the Knights play at Justice on Sunday the 28th.

MSOC: KNIGHTS STRIKE FIRST - EARN HISTORIC 3-0 WIN IN CONFERENCE DEBUT
Irvine – In a season of firsts, the Nobel Men’s Soccer team had another first on Monday morning as they laced it up to play Bethesda University in their first-ever Southwestern Schools (SWS) conference game against the defending conference champion Lions at Great Park Sports Complex.
Nobel (2-4, 1-0) has been struggling to put the ball in the net in its past three contests against higher-level opponents (2 NCAA Division 3 and 1 NAIA team) having been outscored 20-0 in those three contests. Knights’ freshman forward Anass Chakhss broke that scoreless drought for Nobel in the 16th minute scoring on a penalty kick to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
Later in the first half freshman Matheus Batista beat Bethesda goalie Gabriel Viera in the 39th minute on a nice feed from Chakhss to extend the Knights lead to 2-0. Batista would score a second goal in the 65th to give the Knights some insurance and the defense and junior goalie Pablo Molinos would preserve the shutout and the first-ever SWS conference victory 3-0.
“We performed very well and executed offensively to score some goals on some great combinations. Defensively we kept a clean slate. A shutout for us is what we want,” Nobel head coach Evan Camperell said. “Overall we played very well on both sides of the ball. It was a good start to our conference schedule and it was a good win for us.”
Nobel controlled the game throughout holding Bethesda (0-3, 0-1) to only three shots on goal the entire game. The Knights had multiple scoring chances throughout including having two shots that hit the right goalpost by Gabriel De Sousa. Molinos recorded his first solo shutout of the season and recorded his 2nd victory of the season in goal for Nobel.
“I feel very happy to get a shutout today and more importantly get the win in the first game of the conference. Now we need to work hard to prepare for the next game,” Molinos said. “It’s always good and feels nice to do that (shutout).
Our last few games against some tough teams helped us build together as a team and make it a nice atmosphere for the guys.”
Chakhss also played a key part in the victory scoring the first goal and also getting an assist for the Knights who will play again Sunday in their final nonconference game against La Sierra in Riverside at 8 PM.
Chakhss was pleased with his match and the overall team’s effort.
“This was very important winning the first game of the conference, we are blessed to have such a good group of guys,” Chakhss said. “It feels good (to score a goal), I’m blessed to have such good teammates. I saw an opening and I just tried put enough power to get the ball past him into the net. We just got to keep getting better each game.”

MSOC: GROWING PAINS IN INAUGURAL SEASON
After two games of its inaugural season the Nobel Men’s Soccer team was flying high. The Knights hung tough with NAIA power Westcliff, who was ranked 16th at the end of last season, losing by one goal. Nobel’s second game the Knights dominated NAIA Life Pacific and earned their first victory in program history.
However, since then Nobel has struggled mightily against two Division 3 programs Occidental College and Whittier College losing by a combined score of 13-0. The Knights struggles continued Wednesday as they gave up four first half goals to NAIA Hope International University in dropping a 6-0 decision to the Royals. It was the first win of the season for Hope (1-1-1) and the loss dropped Nobel to 1-4 for the season.
Despite the loss Knights head coach Evan Camperell remains optimistic about his team and know there are better days ahead.
“We knew going in to the season that we were going to take some lumps against the more established programs like the ones we have played so far this season,” Camperell said. “These games will help us be more prepared going into our league schedule in the second half of the season. We just have to continue to work on the areas that we need to improve and not let these early games get us down.”
Hope started quickly as Vincent Lopez scored only four minutes into the game to give the Royals a 1-0 lead. The Royals broke the game open in the 22nd minute scoring twice. Isidro Rios beat Nobel goaltender Pablo Molinos to make it 2-0, and then Diego Albanez took a feed from Christian Hernandez and beat Molinos again just 32 seconds later to extend the Royals lead to 3-0.
Less than 10 minutes later Hope’s Mathias Alcaraz scored the fourth goal of the half to take a commanding four goal lead into halftime. The Royals outshot Nobel 10-1 in the first half using a stifling defense to dominate the first half.
In the second half the Knights played much better outshooting the Royals 9 shots to 7 shots, but they still could not get a shot by three Hope goaltenders Berlin Torres (1-1-1), Wyatt Schaap, and Tyler Beehler.
Hope was able to put two shots past Nobel goalie Aleksander Milanov as Daniel Garcia scored the fifth goal for the Royals in the 71st minute, and Norgin Quintanilla scored the final goal for Hope in the 86th minute.
Nobel senior midfielder Gabriel De Sousa recorded a team-high two shots on goal including the Knights first scoring chance at the 41-minute mark of the first half. Junior Matheus Batista also had two shots on goal for the Knights.
Nobel will attempt to snap a 4-game losing streak when they open up SWS conference play next Monday against Bethesda at 10 AM at Great Park Sports Complex in Irvine.

KNIGHTS BALLLED EARLY, BUT FALL TO WHITTIER 6-0
Whittier - Nobel University soccer was hoping to bounce back Friday night from their loss against NCAA Division 3 power Occidental College as they travelled to Whittier to play another NCAA Division 3 foe Whittier College.
For 45 minutes the Knights (1-3) held their own as they went into halftime trailing the Poets by only one goal (1-0).
Unfortunately the second half wasn't so kind to the Purple and Gold as Whittier (1-0) scored early and often in the second half putting five goals on the scoreboard to help the Poets pull away for a season-opening 6-0 victory in front a crowd of about 100 at Memorial Stadium in Whittier.
"We stayed right with them in the first half as our defense and goaltending were able to keep us within striking distance, " Nobel head coach Evan Camperell said. "In the second half the game got away from us. I'm still proud at the intensity and fight we are showing each game until the final whistle. We just need to capitalize on our scoring opportunities more often."
In the first half Nobel had a great scoring chance as midfielder Anass Chakhss broke through and blasted a shot that hit the left side post and bounced away in the 26th minute.
Whittier could not get one past Nobel junior goalie Pablo Molinos until the 38th minute when Guillermo Ramirez got one past Molinos to put Whittier up 1-0.
The score remained that way until 10 minutes later when Nicholas Coop beat Molinos in the 48th minute to extend the Poets lead to 2-0.
Nils DeGardin scored on a penalty kick beating Molinos at the 57 minute mark to extend the Poets lead to 3-0. The Knights switched goalies at the 68th minute as Molinos night ended after 68 minutes making four saves in 68 minutes of play. Guilherme Palacio and Raul McLemore finished the game in goal making four saves and allowing 3 goals in the final 22 minutes of the contest.
Nobel will try to get back on the winning side as they travel to face Hope International University Wednesday September 2nd, at 10 AM.

KNIGHTS FALL TO OCCIDENTAL: BUT LOOK AHEAD
Nobel University (1-2) were hoping to earn their 2nd consecutive victory Sunday night as they travelled to Eagle Rock to play Division 3 powerhouse Occidental College at Jack Kemp Stadium.
It was the home opener for Occidental who is coming off a successful season where the Tigers went 9-3-5. In 2023 Oxy had their best year in school history as they made the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Division 3 tournament.
The Knights knew they would have their hands full with the Tigers. Occidental wasted no time scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes of the contest to a three-goal advantage.
The Tigers continued to add to their lead and were up 5-0 at halftime over the overmatched Nobel Knights.
In the second half it was more of the same as the Tigers added two more goals to make the final outcome 7-0. It was a tough match for the Knights. But it will hopefully help prepare Nobel for the some of the tough opponents they will face in the next few weeks.
Despite the loss Knights head coach Evan Camperell was still pleased with the amount of fight his Nobel squad put up throughout the contest until the final whistle.
"Our strength is not measured by the battles we win, but by how we rise after the one we lose. This defeat is not our end, but the fire that sharpens our sword, steels our hearts, and prepares us for the greater victories ahead." -Camperell said
It won't get any easier for Nobel this week as the Knights travel to Whittier College this Friday in another tough road matchup against the Poets at 7 PM.
The following week Nobel will face NAIA squads La Sierra and then Hope International. The Knights hope to build their record back up. Only time will tell.
The Knights have arrived.

HISTORY MADE: KNIGHTS EARN FIRST-EVER VICTORY
The dawn of a new era arrived on a scorching Thursday morning in San Dimas, California. With the sun blazing at 101 degrees, the Nobel University Knights men’s soccer team refused to wilt. Instead, they rose from the heat and carved their names into history, delivering a commanding 4–0 victory over Life Pacific University to claim the first win in program history.
It wasn’t just a win. It was a statement.
The First Strike
From the opening whistle, the Knights attacked with relentless purpose. In only the 6th minute, junior forward Andi Seiti etched his name into Nobel lore. On a perfectly timed pass from sophomore João Teixeira, Seiti buried the ball past the Life Pacific goalkeeper, becoming the first-ever Knight to score in official competition.
But he wasn’t done. Just minutes later, the Venice, Italy native weaved through defenders, finishing with precision once again to double the lead and silence the home crowd.
“I feel very happy and proud to score the first two goals in university history,” Seiti said. “It’s not something that happens every day. This is amazing—and it’s only the beginning. We want to get to Florida for the NCCAA Championships.”
Command at Halftime
Momentum surged. Just before halftime, senior Gabriel DeSousa struck again, capitalizing on a feed from freshman Chakhss Anass to put the Knights ahead 3–0 at the break. Under the unrelenting sun, Nobel carried more than just a lead—they carried momentum and belief.
Sealed with Authority
The final exclamation came in the 53rd minute, when senior forward Carlos Juarez powered through defenders and finished unassisted to make it 4–0, icing the match and locking in history’s first Knights victory.
The Wall of Steel
While the offense soared, the defense stood impenetrable. Life Pacific was held to only four shots on goal, each one swallowed by Nobel’s unique four-goalie rotation. Juniors Pablo Molinos, Bubba McLemore, Guilherme Palácio (2 saves), and freshman Aleksandar Milanov (2 saves) combined for a flawless shutout, a testament to depth, trust, and teamwork.
“We have a really good defense and our four goalies all played very well today,” Seiti added. “Each has their own style, but we can trust all of them to get the job done.”
A Knight’s Next Battle
With history secured in the sweltering heat, the Knights (1–1) now set their sights on another challenge: Division III powerhouse Occidental College this Sunday night at 6:30 in Eagle Rock.
The heat was merciless, but the Knights were unshaken.
The journey has only begun, but the first chapter has been written in bold, unforgettable fashion.
The Knights have arrived.

THE DAWN OF THE KNIGHTS!
Friday night at Great Park in Irvine wasn’t just another game — it was the birth of a legacy. Under the lights, the Nobel University Knights Men’s Soccer team took their first steps into history, going toe-to-toe with NAIA powerhouse Westcliff in a clash that felt bigger than the scoreboard.
The Warriors, seasoned and nationally ranked, struck only once — a 41st-minute strike from Alessandro Ricci. Yet, that lone goal was all that separated the experienced contender from the fearless newcomer.
For 90 minutes, the Knights stood unshaken. Head Coach Evan Camperell rotated four goalkeepers who combined for nine saves, refusing to allow the moment — or the opponent — to overwhelm them. On the attack, seniors Gabriel De Souza and Carlos Juarez fired relentlessly, leading a 10-shot charge that nearly broke through Westcliff’s wall.
After the whistle, Coach Camperell’s pride was clear:
“The players exceeded expectations. We went toe-to-toe with a program ranked 16th in the nation last year. This is a great start — something we can build on for the rest of the season.”
This wasn’t just an opener. It was proof: the Knights belong. A new force has entered the arena — forged in grit, fueled by belief, and ready to carve its place in the national conversation.
The Knights return to battle Thursday, August 21, with a 10 AM road test at Life Pacific University. The journey has begun.
The Kingdom has risen. The Knights have arrived.

COACH EVAN CAMPERELL SET TO LEAD NOBEL UNIVERSITY INTO INAUGURAL MEN’S SOCCER SEASON
A new era is about to be written in the history books of Nobel University Athletics. In just two weeks, the Knights will take the field for their first-ever men’s soccer match, launching a program built on purpose, grit, and global ambition. At the helm stands veteran head coach Evan Camperell, a proven leader entering his 19th season as a collegiate head coach, hungry to ignite something special in Southern California.
Camperell, who most recently led the women’s program at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, brings a builder’s mindset and a warrior’s heart to the Kingdom.
“There’s nothing like starting from scratch,” said Camperell. “This is an opportunity to create a legacy. To take raw pieces and mold them into a team that can make history—this is why you coach.”
The Knights’ debut kicks off Friday, August 15th at 10:00 AM, when they travel to face NAIA powerhouse Westcliff University—the first battle in a 17-match campaign that promises intensity, growth, and fire.
As members of the Southwestern States Conference (SWS), Nobel will square off against conference rivals Bethesda University, Nelson University, and Justice College. The opening stretch of the season is no soft launch—early matches feature heavyweights like Life Pacific (NAIA) and NCAA DIII standouts Occidental College and Whittier College.
The roster? A fusion of cultures and talent from across the globe—Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Jamaica, Armenia, Bulgaria, and the United States—each player handpicked to bring a unique rhythm to Nobel’s rising symphony of soccer.
“We’re still blending, still learning one another,” Camperell added. “But there’s something special brewing. The schedule, the competition, the NCCAA structure—it gives us the perfect platform to chase greatness.”
With national tournament aspirations, a post-season berth, and a passionate vision to establish Nobel Soccer as a force, the journey begins now.
Be there. Be loud. Be part of history.
This fall… The Kingdom takes the field.
